THE GOVERNMENT is applying for planning clearance for a motorway service area on both sides of the M20 at West Kingsdown, Kent.
Provided that the application is not opposed by local residents and does not face a public inquiry, the 40-acre site will add to the motorway service areas proposed for the M25 and M20, the Department of Transport says.
• The RoadChef Killington Lake service area on the M6 in Cumbria is to get a 11 rn face-lift. It includes the building of a self-service restaurant, a shop, a take-away unit and tourist information centre.
