Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE LICENCE battle over stage services in Warwickshire between George Day's Heart of England companies and West Midlands PTE has been resumed before the West Midland Traffic Commissioners. Initially, Heart of England's services and the PTE were opposing each others' applications to renew licences granted after a previous battle. The hearing of both applications started in February and was adjourned in March after it was revealed that Heart of England Services proposed to alter its applications substantially (CM, March 23). In the event, a fresh application was lodged by an associated company, Heart of England Tours.

Mr Day told the Commissioners that an identical appli

cation was to be lodged by Heart of England Services so that the two companies could share the operations.

Commissioners' chairman Ronald Jackson said an earlier

assurance by Mr Day that Heart of England Services would continue to operate a rural service had lasted about three hours. Mr Day said the company had given up that route be

cause it had not received money for concessionary fares.

The Commissioners adjourned the hearing until June 6.
