The honorary officers of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders for 1962/63 were elected at a council meeting of the society last week. The new president is Mr. L. G. T.. Farmer (executive vice-chairman of the Rover Company, Ltd.). He succeeds Mr. D. G. Stokes (sales director of the Leyland Group of companies), who now becomes deputy president. Mr. G. E. Liardet (chairman and managing director of the Simms Group of companies) has again been elected vice-president, and Mr. W. Swallow (chairman and managing director of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd.) has also been appointed to that office to fill the vacancy following the election of Mr. Farmer as president. Mr. M. L. Breeden (joint managing director of Wilmot Breeden, Ltd.) was re-elected for a third term as honorary treasurer. Sir William Black (chairman of A.E.C., Ltd.) has also been re-elected an honorary officer.

Mr. F. J. Guyatt has been appointed managing director of Locomotors, Ltd., of 154 Grosvenor Road, London, S.W.I.

Mr. F. Briggs and Mr. L. E. C. Geri, traffic managers of Graham Adams, Ltd., of New Malden, Surrey, are to be appointed directors of the company.

Fisher and Stacey, Ltd., Pease Transport, Ltd., and Silver .Roadways, Ltd., and is a director of John Walker and Co. (Sugar Refiners), Ltd. Mr. Henman is chairman of the Transport Development Group, Ltd., and of the Square Grip Reinforcement Co. (London), Ltd.

Mr. E. E. Hempsall has been appointed a director of Renold Chains, Ltd. Mr. A. E. R. Slack has been appointed representative for the southern half of England by Beckett, Laycock and Watkinson, Ltd., manufacturers of windows and door gear equipment for transport. Mr. Slack joined the Beclawat sales organization on May I and will commence his duties in the southern area on September 1.

Mr. H. Allison has been appointed by A.E.C. (Sales), Ltd., as zone manager for the Americas and will be responsible for business in North and South America, Canada and the Caribbean. Mr. Allison, who was educated in Montevideo, has lived for more than 20 years in South America and has represented the interests -of several other international companies there. Mr. S. G. Mundy, managing director of Crypton Equipment, Ltd., Bridgwater (a member of the Metal Industries Group), is retiring on June 1. He is to continue his association with the company as honorary president. Rear Admiral R. F. Storrs, who has been associated with Crypton for the past year, is to serve as managing director for the next 12 months. Mr. J. Bushnell, director and chief engineer, has been appointed director and general manager of the company.
