MR. W, MORTON who, as reported in "The Commercial Motor" on May 4, has been acting as secretary ot the East Midland Area of the Road Haulage Association, has been confirmed,in that appointment. He succeeds Mr. L. W. Thurman, who has resigned. Mr. Morton joined the Association in May, 1947, and a year later was appointed. area licensing officer.

MR. G..E. BEHARRELL, deputy chairman and managing director of the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., has been elected president of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in succession to MR. W. LYONS, chairman and managing director of Jaguar Cars, Ltd, Mr, Lyons has become deputy president. MR. H. SPURRIER, managing director of Leyland Motors, Ltd., continues as vice-president and is joined in that office by SIR JOHN BLACK, deputy chairman and managing director of the Standard Motor Co., Ltd. MR. W. R. BLACK, managing director of Park Royal Vehicles, Ltd., continues as treasurer.
