HAULIER CONSORTIUM Ling Alliance looks likely to unveil its first contract within the next few weeks, according to chief executive Chris Sturman.
Although declining to give full details. Sturman indicated that the contract would initially benefit one main Ling Alliance member, with another seven or eight tapping into back load work. Based in the west of England, the contract will involve the transport of packaging materials.
Sturman says the contract is being finalised and stresses the importance of a first win for the newly-formed company: think it's important internally for the members: it will show that their investment is beginning to pay off" "We are working hard on another couple at the moment and hopefully we should bring them to fruition in April or May." The 26 firms within Ling could soon be joined by another Transport Association member, Llanelli-based Owens Road Services. Operations manager Duncan Kiley says the firm is giving the proposal "due consideration".
It is understood the Department for Transport is taking a keen interest in the fortunes of the consortium.
