Shadow Transport Secretary Gillian Shephard has warned that 50.000 jobs could be lost in Britain's haulage industry due to the Budget rise in diesel duty.

At the launch of the Conservative Transport Policy Forum earlier this week. Shephard said she has written to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, asking the Government to re-think the policy that has prompted many UK hauliers to consider flagging out.

Shadow Transport Minister Bernard Jenkin described how Roads Minister Glenda Jackson
