A MECHANICAL press which is extremely simple and reasonably priced is made by this

company. Known as the B.T.1, the unit is available for either bench mounting or floor mounting. Comprising a crosshead in which is mounted a ram powered by a rack and pinion givingthrough a train of gears-a leverage ratio of 40 to 1, the machine provides ram pressures of up to 2 tons.

The crosshead is linked to the work table via two machined steel uprights which permit a maximum width of work between them of 20 in. The ram has a maximum travel of 20 in. and is 3 in. in diameter. The work table carries a rotating arbor-plate slotted to take different size arbors and on the floor-mounted model a channel to permit accommodation of long work is incorporated beneath the arbor-plate.

The bench-mounted model costs £52 10s. and the floor-mounted model £84.
