Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

London Road, Daventry, Northants.

THERE are four presses offered by this company, three being operated hydraulically and one mechanically.

The mechanical unit has a capacity of 10

tons and uses a screwed ram-spindle which is operated by a ratchet and pawl, each notch on the ratchet moving the ramTio in. The frame used is identical with that of the 10-ton hydraulic machine described below. The model number of this unit is 37F.

Using a ram with a stroke of 6 in. and powered by a single-speed, hand-operated pump, this model has a fabricated frame made up from mildsteel plate allowing work sizes of 31 in. in height and 22 in. in width to be accommodated. It carries the model number 37H.

A 20-ton-capacity unit having the model number 37XC-1 employs a hydraulically powered ram, again by a single-speed, hand-operated pump which has a travel of 5 in. The frame design follows closely that of the 10-ton model, but construction is much more substantial to withstand the higher stresses imposed upon it. This unit gives a maximum work space between the uprights of 22.5 in. and a maximum depth of 33.625 in.

The largest of the models offered is the 50-ton unit bearing the model number 37UC. This machine is equipped with a two-speed pump with capacities of 2 tons and 50 tons respectively on the low and high pressures. A machined work table is supplied on this model and work up to 41.5 in. wide and 39 in. high can be accommodated. The ram, which has a 12 in. stroke, is 5 in. in dia. A number of special attachments are available for use with this machine.
