THE new 8+-mile Dunston-Shareshill section of M6 in Staffs opened to traffic on Monday. The section completes the first stage of the proposed Midland link motorways, which eventually will connect M6, M5 and MI and provide the West Midlands conurbation with a system of fast communication with London, the North West, South West and South Wales.
Construction is already under way on the next 6-mile Shareshill-Darlaston section and is expected to he completed at the end of this year.
