ACOMPOUND which, when added to . the electrolyte in battery cells, is said to disperse lead sulphate deposits, is offered by the Egremont Trading Agency, 1 Heath Street, London, N.W.3. It is known as VX-6 and Is manufactured by the National Dynamics Corp., of America.

It is claimed that by using the compound apparently " dead ". cells can be restored to life, whilst 'addition of the fluid to, new batteries, prevent the accuMutation of sulphates. Sufficient VX-6 to treat. one.. 6 v. or one 12 v, battery costs £1 5s.

Several facsimiles of independent laboratory reports and operators' letters back .up _ the manufacturers' claims. Unfortunately, all of them describe only short-term 'acquaintance with the product.

Priming Aluminium OST etching primers for aluminium IVA are made up from two constituents which are mixed together just prior to use. Strathclyde PA-10 primer, manufactured by Federated Paints, Ltd., Dobbies Loan, Glasgow, C.4, is supplied ready-for use in one can.

It can be applied to aluminium without any preparation of the metal other than normal cleaning. One coat gives paint-to-metal adhesion of over 3,000 p.s.i. and, being pigmented, provides protection against corrosion or weathering. The primed metal can be left for a year or more before subsequent paint coats are applied, without risk of damage.

More Traction THE Ultra Grip tyre produced by the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (GreatBritain), Ltd., Bushbury, Wolverhampton, is now being manufactured in 6-ply form for light vans. Tubeless sizes offered are 5.90-15 in. and 6.40-15 in., whilst 5.90-15 in., 6.40-15 in., 6.70-15 in., 6.00-16 in. and 6.70-16 in. tubed covers are available.

Close Inspection EELLISCOPE is the name given to a small industrial microscope manufactured by the Ellis Optical Company, Mayday Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey. It is approximately the size of a fountain pen and provides 20-40 times magnification.

nETAILS of a new lubrication and maintenance scheme, recently introduced by Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., Luton, Beds, for Bedford fleets, are given in a 55-page booklet available from the Vauxhall service department. In addition to servicing information, the publication contains advice on the selection of suitable vehicles for particular applications.

Vauxhall offer also a wall chart, for display in workshops, which covers the maintenance of Bedford 200-cu.-in. and 300-cu.-in, oil engines.

The technique permits heavier coatings of chromium to be applied, giving improved corrosion resistance.
