Epping Auto-shunter can also be employed for normal haulage work on the road or other duties demanding the use of a powerful tractive unit.

F. E. Weatherall, Ltd., Union Row, London, N.I7, who have recently undertaken the manufacture of the vehicle, have introduced a muledozer attachment for it.

In the capacity of a shunter the tractor can deal with loads of up to 175 tons, It is mounted on pneumatic tyres and is designed so that it Can cross the tracks at right angles and, of course, it has to contend with sleepers when engaged in shunting.

Its specification includes a Fordson Major oil engine, and a gearbox providing six forward ratios and two in reverse.

SANCTION FOR CLYDE TUNNEL

SAN CTI ON has been given to Glasgow Corporation to proceed with the Whitehouse-Linthouse tunnel under the River Clyde. A single tunnel will be built at lirst and a second later. The cost of the initial project is about £31n.. and the Government have made a 75 per cent. grant.
