T ANUARY'S exports of commercial J vehicles set up a new record in volume and value. Including industrial trucks, road haulage tractors and trailers. 9.592 units, valued at £3,941,903, were shipped overseas, compared with 7,851 and £3,670,137
respectively—themselves high figures— in December, 1948.
In addition. 199 used commercial vehicles (£107,922), 9,794 farm tractors (£2,663,451) and parts and accessories valued at £3,061,944, were exported.

OBITUARY
WE regrqt to announce the death of WY MR., ARCHIBALD ALEXANDER, who founded the haulage business of Archibald Alexander, Ltd., Dobbies Loan, Glasgow, in 1879. He was 90 years of age.
We regret also to announce the death of MR. J. W. EILAKEMORE, general manager of Salford Transport Department from' 1933 until his retirement in 1946, when he completed 45 years' service in the undertaking
