Jayne Kay triumphantly shunned the limousines, the Bentleys and the horse-drawn carriages on Saturday 13 June when she married fellow Lancastrian trucker Mike Carter in Ashton, and a truck took them to both the church and wedding reception. Mike initially wanted the truck, graciously offered by Lancashire ,‘,,Mr and Mrs Carter: Leyland Daf, to be a surprise for v rr to a good start. Jayne, who drives for Eccles company Lanes For Drains—but she got wind of the idea. However, Jayne's father, owner-driver Tommy, knew nothing of the special addition to the day and was overjoyed. Mike, who drives for Linde Gas in Irlam, met Jayne while he was driving for Comet. "Jayne was the agency driver who came in and replaced me when I was away from the job once," Mike says. "When I got back we started talking and it developed from there."
