Hero" award from Goodyear following his efforts in saving lives and preventing serious injury on the Chandlers Ford by-pass in Hampshire last May.
Sawyer, who is employed by Meachers Transport in Southampton drove his artic into the path of a trailer which had detached from its tractive unit and was heading for two petrol tankers. Sawyer's swift action was praised by both the police and others at the scene of the incident and has resulted in him being named the winner of the Goodyear award which is open to all British truck drivers who perform deeds of heroism.
