LAURIE BAKER, the British conmercial vehicle industry's onl female chief engineer, has bee promoted within Sandbach Er gineering to become assistar managing director.
Mrs Baker is an American wh came to Sandbach in 1980, whe Paccar took over Foden Truck from the receiver. She is a stres specialist and worked wit another Paccar subsidiary, Ker worth, before coming to Britair She was with Boeing befor that.
Earlier this year, she estat lished an untypically high publi profile for the company, by mal ing public calls for down licensing to be authorised by th Government, in order to reduc the burdens of type approvi paperwork,
