TRANSPORT 2000 has published a response to the Greater London Council's "balanced plan" for transport in London.
In its paper, A question of balance', the pressure group calls for a new bus control and information system using computer technology, which it claims will space out buses and give a more regular and reliable service along the entire length of a route.
Transport 2000 says that such a system could be used to tell passengers at stops when the next bus will arrive.
Another suggestion for LT is that it redefines the role of bus conductors by training them to distribute information, sell travelcards and help old people with heavy luggage.
