Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE RENAULT 6x6 TRM 10,0 (CM, June 11) is now schedul for production in 1984, writ GRAHAM MONTGOMERIE.

Recently Renault organised off-road test of their milittvehicles and I drove both the tonne payload TRM 10,000 a the four tonne payload TF 4,000.

The TRM 10,000 was fin with the 89 gearbox built at F nault's "automatic" factory Boutheon. There was obviou: something amiss in the selecti, department on this particu chassis as it showed a distir tendency to jump out of ge, The turbocharged 9.8 lit (598cuin) engine showed a gr€ willingness to pull well down the speed range with its ma mum torque coming in 1,40Orpm.

For coping with short, sha gradients in the soft sand of t Renault test ground there wa; limit as to how far this luggii technique could be applied, these cases, more speed w necessary to rush the slo allowing the surprisingly (for military vehicle) supple suspe sion to absorb the shock.

Even on the very bad churned up sections the TA 10,000's traction made it ma than able to cope, with its a proach angle capacity of 4 coming in very handy at times.

In some way the lighter TA 4,000 was even more impressi in that it did everything t 10,000 did with just as little fus The 4,000 featured the MA derived 5.5 litre (335cui indirect injection engine whi produces its maximum power 98kw (133bhp) at 2,900rpm.

Although nowhere near flexible as the Renault engine the heavier vehicle, the 797 e gine in the TRM 4,000 nevertlless gave it a performance ov rough ground almost equal of heavier brother.
