Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DHL COURIER service has set up an overnight delivery company operating solely in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Elan offers overnight delivery of rush orders or replacement parts anywhere in the UK and Irish Republic. It claims a low cost and high reliability service, with a one rate price of £8 per consignment plus 30p per kg in Britain.

The list price can be reduced through bulk orders and these rates are openly published.

Elan has been in operation for two months and has 17 depots. It has two hub centres in Ireland where parcels are sorted for distribution in Ireland and a further hub at the East Midlands Airport in Nottingham to deal with British parcels.

Trunking operations from its larger depots, such as Manchester and Birmingham, are carried out on 40ft curtain sider trailers with Volvo F7 tractive units. Smaller depots use rigid vehicles, mainly Ford Cargo vans with box bodies and a payload of six tonnes. Local deliveries are carried out by Freight Rover Sherpas, Mercedes-Benz 307 diesel vans with a 1.5 tonnes payload, and Ford Escort vans.
