• The first security vehicle park to open in the United Kingdom, at Preston, has installed a Regiscope security system to deter potential hijacking of high-value truck loads.
Drivers are requested to show credentials at the security office when returning to the park, before picking up their vehicles. The Regiscope dual-lens camera photographs both the driver and his presented documents simultaneously. The camera acts as a positive deterrent. In the event that a criminal poses as a driver and fraudulent documents are proffered, the camera will record this transaction for subsequent investigation by the police.
The Regiscope is capable of taking 2000 exposures on one roll of-film, and if a breach of security occurs, any single frame recording the possible suspect can be developed without affecting the rest of the film.
Mr C. J. Fry, general manager of British Legion Attendants Co Ltd, which operates the Preston park, commented: "We installed Regiscope photo-identity security because we believe that this system, in conjunction with the other security measures we are employing, is most effective as a deterrent against attempted hijacking."
