twice-weekly coach tours of Birmingham to enable citizens to keep track of rapidly changing city developments.
Their application to the West Midlands Traffic Commissioners for permission to run the tours on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons will be supported by the Public Works department, but the Birmingham City Police are objecting to a proposed boarding point in Colmore Row because of traffic congestion at this point.
The Public Works department, if the application succeeds, will provide a courier to accompany the coach in the initial stages of the project. Foreign delegations to Birmingham average about one a week, and requests from schools and other civic groups for city trips are expected to grow.
