Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

44 -T-HE, test for all companies is that L employees don't leave—that tells you a lot about an employer ", was the pertinent comment made by Alderman Frank Lines, Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, at the golden jubilee celebration luncheon of Southdown Motor Services Ltd. in Brighton on Tuesday.

Applying this yardstick to Southdown, Aid. Lines revealed that 700 employees had more than 25 years' service, 130 more than 40 years and three over 50 years. Such facts spoke a very great deal for the company and its policy.

Indicative of the wide area covered by Southdown, Mr. R. W. Birch, director, said that 16 Parliamentary constituencies were involved, but added that because of the unstable nature of that House,

several of their guests had been " whipped " away!

The chairman of Southdown, Mr. R. P. Beddow, had earlier stressed the significance of the advent of co-operation between private enterprise companies and municipal undertakings. He instanced the agreement between Portsmouth Corporation and his company in 1946 and later a similar arrangement in the Brighton area. Both agreements had stood the test of time.

In commemoration of this jubilee, a 100-page booklet "The Southdown Story-1915-1965" has been issued. During that period this BET company has seen its fleet grow from 51 to 963 vehicles and the annual mileage from under 4m. to over 31m.
