IN response to reports of national stewards discussed at a meeting of the national executive committee of the Lorry Driver of the Year competition on Tuesday that Section 17 of the regulations left some doubt regarding their authority, it was decided by the committee that the regulations for 1466 should be amended accordingly. A ruling will be added to this section that "The national steward's decision on any matter relating to a competition shall be final and binding." After reviewing causes for disqualification on the route test, with particular reference to the recent Kent competition, the committee approved the recommendation that the national organizing committee should consider whether a .driver be disqualified for not stopping at a halt sign and for disregarding traffic lights. It was confirmed at the meeting that there were good prospects of a competition being arranged in the Lincoln area next year; also that no competition will be held in Western Scotland this year.
