Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

We recently visited the body-building factory of Messrs. Alford and Alder, 53, Newington Butts, S.E., a firm which has been in the coach-building trade since the year 1820, and has steadily progressed until it is now turning out some of the finest motor coachwork in the trade. The firm constructs bodies suitable for commercial-travellers, and is also prepared to build van and chars-à-banes bodies, etc., to individual requirements.

While going round the various departments of the factory we were interested to note two fine 30-seater char-A-banes bodies in course of construction. The bodies are made particularly strong at the rear to take the strain of the overhang and the weight of the folded hood, and are fitted throughout with steel panels. The particular examples we inspected are intended for use on Daintier chassis.

The coachwork for commercial-travellers' cars is made .in the same way and of the same quality of materials as for the best nrivate-car bodies, the whole framework being of well-seasoned ash, and the panels of aluminium. Complete cars can be hired out to travellers at an inclusiN-e charge, providing for up:keep, liveried driver, insurance, taxes and free garage at the works.

Our illustration shows a luxurious saloon-limousine body which was built to the order of a jobmaster for use on a Daimler chassis ; this vehicle has accommo

dation fur 26 persons inside and four outside. The front inner seats are served by doors at each side, and two additional doors are provided at time rear to en able the centre seats to be reached ; a portion of each seat swivels round, forming a gangway.

The body is painted red with black beadings, and the upholstery is in bright red leather ; the inside of the roof' is covered with specially-designed white Lincrusta, into which are set three large electric lamps. The windows are all frameless and fitted with well-sprung lazy tongs, special tighteners being prep. tided to prevent them from rattling.
