Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The central gate of Wales. is Shrewsbury, and whether you approach the Principality by road or rail you find yourself somehow in that interesting old town. No wonder then that it has been selected by the R.A.S.E. as the most suitable centre to attract those from the Midlands of England, and from Wales generally. There is much evidence that the " Royal " increases yearly in its influence and popularity, and the two special numbers of this journal to be issued In connection therewith will be found pregnant with matters of interest to the commercial-vehicle riser. The petrol vehicle as well as the steamer comes in for attention, because that country teems with opportunities for business both in the steam and petrol sides. Readers will do well, therefore, to follow closely these two important issues— both the Guide to the Show and the subsequent Report. of the Show. They will merit attention.

It is hardly necessary to remind those who will be in attendance at the Shrewsbury (pronounced Shrowsbury) Show ground that our editoaial staff and photographers will be busy down there beforethe opening, with the result that this journal will have its illustrated report on sale on the show ground very promptly after the opening on Tuesday.

Tt is well known amongst our manufacturers and others, that we do net accept advertisements through advertising agents. We are sometimes, though it is but seldom. asked to justify our attitude, and it is not difficult. Although I am quite prepared to admit there are some agents who take an intelligent interest in their clients' affairs, there are many whose services are worse than useless : all they are concerned about is to allocate the pub

Vojta' to the quarters which yield the best commission. I know of a case recently which aptly illustrates the amount of thought exercised in a client's interest. A manufacturer has vehicles for sale, and he also disposes of sonic on easy terms of payment. This advertising " helpmate " calmly sends easy terms " copy " to a paper which appeals solely and entirely to great corporations, who, far from being interested in the hire system, would be more likely to pay in advance if an extra. discount (amid thus be secured. The moral of this is, that no one is more interested than the man who pays in choosing the right publication in which to advertise—no one better able than he to say what he has to say to the paper's readers. If any help be needed to secure a change of ideas, then the advertising staff of the paper is at the advertiser's elbow and disposal ; at any rate, that is the ease with TrrE CommaitcIAL MOTOR.

Bosch magnetos were fitted to the winning cars in the Tourist

Trophy Race laait week.

Mr. E. Mayet, the English eoncessionnaire for the Aries lorries, is just oil to Paris on a visit to the works.

Mr. R. A. Jones, director of Karrier Cars cf Huddersfield, has taken a house at Surbiton, as he is making his headquarters in London.

The Palladium agency for Manchester is being taken up by Cranhain, one of the most popular and Well-known agents in the North: The winning cars in the Tourist Trophy Race last week were shod with Dunlop tires ; it is a remarkable claim that all the cars which finished were similarly shod.

Another disciple of the " earlier holidays" principle is Mr. Fred Morris, the head of John Morris and Sons Ltd., of Salford. He is just back from Windermere, after a great holiday, mostly motor-boating.

A good slice of the contents of that breezy publication "The Austin Advocate" now goes to commercial-vehicle matters, which indi cates the trend of things.

Many of the Manchester people slipped away to the Isle of Man last week, and I missed them—amongst others, Mr. Herbert Frood of

Ferodo fame.

Another newcomer may be looked for in the solid-tire world. Messrs. H. and W. Greer, Ltd., of 18, Chiswell Street, Finsbury Square, E.C., have taken up the agency of Calmon solid tires.
