IN REPLY to J. E. Eastman's I ter (CM, June 13) DIY Standard Are They Safe?, statistical perhaps there is no eviden that DIY standards contribute accidents any more than "pr fessional" repairs.
But the motor repair trade rife with poor standards. Ov the years vehicles have beco increasingly sophisticated, b the standard of staff has stay pretty much the same.
Lack of ambition and interes comes from lack of incentiv Mechanics should take a prac cal and written test every t years and should be pa according to their knowled and skill.
