Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Atkinson Vehicles announces two new standard inclusions in the specifications of its vehicles.

The first was devised to simplify fault tracing in air pressure systems, and in future all the major units of these systems fitted to the vehicles will be labelled for easy identification. All pipework is run in spaced groups and perfectly straight lines along the Insides of the main chassis frames, allowing tracing of the various lines to be greatly simplified.

Another advantage gained by the layout is a considerably reduced delay period from brake application to full pressure—now in the region of 0.44sec.

The second specification change is the provision of short, stayed rnudflaps between the tandem axles of multi-axle vehicles produced by the company. This has been done in the light of research carried out by the Road Research Laboratory, which has proved that to mount flaps in this position considerably reduces road spray from the wheels. The flaps are angled forward slightly, tending to divert water thrown up from the tyres towards the undersides of the vehicle.
