• At a Section 178 inquiry, on Tuesday, John Borthwick (Tippers) Ltd., Aberdeen, had a Contract A-licence curtailed for two months, by the Scottish LA at Perth. The LA warned John Borthwick, the firm's managing director, of the position in which he stood in respect of future applications. In doing so the LA referred him to several organizations which could possibly help him.

Mr. Borthwick agreed that he was in a very bad situation with seven GV9s served in about a year. The LA said he appreciated that he was obviously trying hard and he did not want to see him in court again on a similar charge.

His maintenance scheme started at the end of 1967, he said, and vehicles were checked every few months, although since May, they had also been looked over at each weekend.
