As the motor coach turned a blind corner at the end of an old-world village street there was a shriek of "Mind my puppy ! " and a small boy hurled himself almost under the wheels. Too late ! The pup was dead, and the passengers showered sympathy —concrete and cilierwise—upon the weeping child, who hugged the remains of his pet and would let DO one touch it. • When the coach was out of sight another boy came out of a doorway. "'Ow much this time ? " he asked. "Five bob in tanners," was the cheery reply ; "but we'll 'ave ter look out fer another dead pup—this 'un'a gettin' niffy! "
