Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• ERF dealer S Jones Truck Centre is saving time and money by having vehicles tested at its Walsall, West Midlands site instead of moving them to the local Department of Transport test centre.

Almost a year ago the company became one of the first to gain approval for on-site vehicle testing. Since then a DoT inspector has been averaging two days a week testing vehicles in one of S Jones' service bays using equipment maintained to DoT standards.

Avoiding the trip to the test centre is saving the dealer some 60 man-hours a week. At present it is not offering vehicle testing on a commercial basis.

The Walsall site maintains around 1,000 vehicles and trailers for S Jones of Aldridge-60 mechanics are employed there.

The S Jones' testing station is now one of 40 now which are operated privately by companies including large operators and rental companies.
