• York's latest competitor Target Travel has been snapped up just two months after its formation. York's parent AJS Group has bought Target and has formed a new company, Target Travel Services. This will be headed by Nigel Jolliffe, managing director of York City & District. Target started in November with 10 new minibuses on a cross-city route. Owner Brian Gallier stays as manager and minority owner of Target, but retains ownership of his fourvehicle coach company, Premier of Dunnington. All minibus services will now be integrated between the two companies in the city. Target will be expanded, and will retain its marketing identity.
AJS director Giles Fearnley says wasteful competition will be eliminated.
