Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Selected Information which is likely to be of Interest to Makers, Owners, and their Buyers.

Electric Cable for Garages.

The St. Helens Cable and Rubber Co., Ltd., has designed a special cable for use under severe garage conditions. By using twin-rubber insulated cables, covered with a layer of standard cab-tire sheathing, an article has been produced capable of withstanding the roughest garage work, and of resisting the rotting action of oils, moisture and acid to an almost unlimited extent.

Time Recorders.

The International Time Recording Co., whose London office is at 151-155, City' Road, E.C., had until recently supplied only 29 of its Rochester recorders to the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd. Another 11 machines of the kind have just been ordered by London's premier omnibus company, The Paris General Omnibus Co. has also placed its order with the company for 12 recorders.

A Non-skid of Promise.

Our readers may remember that in the issue of this journal for the 30th November last, we illustrated a neat non-skid device for twin tires, and this is known as the " 13. and B." In response to a large batch of inquiries that resulted from our original notice, we have been enabled to put a number of interested parties in touch with the inventor, Mr. T. Buckton, Lightcliffe, Yorkshire, and it is likely that further developments will take place in respect of this device in the near future.

Science Museum Selects an "Autoclipse " Lamp.

The directorate of the Science Museum, South Kensington, has placed amongst its exhibit of motor lighting appliances, an "Autoclipse " lamp and fittings, manufactured by Brown Bros., Ltd. The sound principles employed in the design and construction will undoubtedly emphasize the makers' claim that this speciality comes very near indeed to perfection. One of our staff called in at the headquarters of Brown Bros. Ltd., in Great Eastern Street, to offer congratulations upon this official recognition. He seized the opportunity to inspect the new and enlarged premises which have been erected, in order to cope with the ever-growing demand for this company's goods. Arrangements have been made to carry a large stock of requisites for commercial vehicles. The new internal organization to facilitate the work of the outward and inward delivery departments represents the last word in up-to-date warehouse methods.

"With the Compliments of the Season."

Although well on into the New Year, seasonable reminders and attractively-designed gifts still flow into the Editorial office. To thank each of our friends separately, would, we are afraid, seriously encroach on our available space. The Polack Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., forwards a large-sized leather-hound engagement tablet and blotting-pad, which the Editor has pressed into his personal service. The North British Rubber Co., Ltd., sends a boldly-printed tear-off wall calendar. From Leo. Swain and Co., comes a smaller register printed in red and green, made up into monthly sections, and fitted with a mirror. Alfred Herbert, Ltd., has selected a mosteisef ill advertisement-calendar in black and white, bearing reproductions of many of its latest types of machines. Halley's Industrial Motors, Ltd., has chosen the face of a beautiful girl to embellish its gift. Printed in colour, and most artistically mounted, this calendar meets with general approbation. A strongly mounted monthly tear-off pad reaches us from James H. Randall, of Paddington Green, London.

The "My Car" Diary.

From Stern Sonneborn Oil Co., Ltd., we have received a strong yet daintily-bound diary. If kept up to date, and if particulars be written up after each journey in the spaces provided, the motor owner or driver may in this booklet secure a complete record of distances, of oil and petrol costs, tires and much other information of service.

A Freight Calendar of Note.

We have received from Robert Park and Co., Ltd., a copy of its calendar for 1912; this contains a mine of information with regard to freights and import duties on motor vehicles and accessories to the principal world ports. Interesting data are supplied as to foreign money values, annual car taxes, weights, eta. This company informs us that it will be pleased to forward a copy of this calendar, which lain wallcard form, to interested parties, upon receipt of Fl. postcard at the head offices, 91 and 93, Clerkenwell Road, E.C.

An Important French Amalgamation.

The French journal " L'Auto," announces the absorption of the Societe des Etablissements by the Societe des Etablissements Bergougnan. Both firms are located in the old French town of ClermontFerrand. Their respective products are well known, and will include under the new regime, pneumatic and solid tires, rubber-boots, clothing, and every variety of mechanical rubber-goods. M. Raymond Bergougnan will take the reins of the enlarged concern. It is interesting to note that the factories cover nearly 40 acres of ground between them, and give employment to something like 5,000 hands.

Our Collection of " Coan" Dishes.

Mr. Robert W. Coen, the proprietor of the wellknown aluminium foundry and repair works at 219, Goswell Road, Clerkenwell, has once again sent round to his business friends an example of an alu minium casting in the shape of a cake dish. The design this year is, if anything, an advance on that of previous years, and we presume that Mr. (Joan has quite standardized the nature of this welcome annual gift at Christmas time, otherwise we might suggest some alteration. We, personally, are acquiring quite a large collection of Mr. Coan's fruit. dishes and we shall hope next year to add some slightly different memento to this interesting exhibit. Mr. (Joan wishes it to he known by any of his business friends who have not yet received one of these mernentoee that he will be happy to forward one upon application.
