LEYLAND does not have a manufacturerbacked finance scheme for its commercial vehicle buyers. Instead, each of the dealers is left to make its own arrangements with a general finance company.
One of the major Leyland dealers in the UK told me that the absence of a companybacked scheme is "no great deterrent; it is more important at the car and light van end of the market." In the dealer's experience, lease with maintenance is gaining in popularity while straightforward leasing is "going off the boil," BL Cars does offer a manufacturer-backed scheme (via finance house Lombard) and it is believed that Leyland could soon introduce a scheme for commercial vehicle buyers too.
