COMMERCIAL vehicle contract hire and rental company Transfleet Services has spent £1.8m on new vehicles for its rental fleet. At the same time Temeside Self Drive has introduced the four-wheel drive Freight Rover Sherpa van to its vehicle fleet.
Transfleet has bought 86 new vehicles, ranging from 7.5-tonne vans to 38-tonne tractive units, operating from the company's depots over the UK.
The vehicles comprise both standard and specialist trucks, including refrigerated units and curtainsided side loaders, many with sleeper cabs.
Transfleet is recruiting additional staff to support the expansion programme.
Temeside has initially bought three Sherpas with a carrying capacity of 190cuft. They have proved popular in recent bad weather and the company is to buy a further batch of 15 to 20 by Easter.
