Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE question of access to the passenger transport profession has still not been resolved, and the Department of Transport is giving nothing away.

The matter was discussed at a meeting at the DTp last week, but representatives from the industry who were present, were told to keep quiet about the meeting.

Any publicity about the meeting, they were told, must come from the DTp.

The Department, however, was uncommunicative when CM asked about the meeting. A press statement will be issued in a few weeks, CMwas told.

We understand, however, that the form of exemption was discussed at great length, and that this could depend on membership of particular bodies.

The inference is that the small operator will be most concerned because large organisations invariably employ staff who are members of the Chartered Institute of Transport and so on.

Thus, exemption would not be difficult for these organisations.
