carried out by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory in parts of southern England.

Scientists will be working from a specially prepared vehicle alongside police at the scenes of accidents, and trying to establish speeds, the behaviour of the drivers and the severity of injuries.

Defects

TRRL teams will be told of accidents by area police in parts of Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey for a two-year period. Some time after the accidents, drivers and pedestrians involved will be interviewed by the scientists in an effort to find out how the accidents happen.
