CM's editor has just returned from a visit to a trans-Sahara expedition mainly sponsored by Saviem. His reports will appear on March 4 and 11.
British operators will be able to make their own assessment of the traffic potential of north west Africa in September this year.
The Dutch Road Haulage Association is organising a I5-day tour to Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, the Ivory Coast and Senegal.
The purpose of the trip is to find methods of transporting goods by trailer in these countries, to avoid the reported seven months delay on general cargo by deep sea transport at Lagos.
Specific places to be visited include Alger, Niamey, Ayorou, Kano, Lagos, Abidjan and Dakar.
