A TRUCKER left a pattern of tyre-marks on his girlfriend's body as he crushed her to death with his truck on Valentine's Day, Hull Crown Court heard last week.
Shane Bliss from Pollington. near Goole. Yorkshire, was jailed for three-and-a-half years after he admitted the manslaughter of Jackie Wareing, with whom he had had a relationship for several months.
Prosecutors had claimed he killed her deliberately, but Bliss repeatedly denied murder and told police he had not seen her in front of his artic. The couple had been out for a Valentine's night drink at a pub in Goole, where Wareing lived. The court heard that they began arguing as they undressed for bed so Bliss put his clothes back on and went to sleep in his truck.
Wareing followed him to the truck and after a brief row, prosecutors claimed, he started the engine and drove over his partner.
Police said they were happy with the manslaughter plea but Detective Superintendent Colin Andrews admitted that"the whole truth... is still not known".
