Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• "Phoenix firm" SMI Thermo Logistics is going into liquidation, just five months after director Alain Ball lost its predecessor through debt.

Dover-based reefer specialist Shaumatt International went into liquidation in July owing more than £200,000 to suppliers and subcontractors.

SMI Thermo Logistics of Chatham then commenced operations using Shaumatt's customer base, but failed to see in the New Year under Ball's con trol. Liquidator Bill Beach of Chatham firm Moore Stephens Booth White is unwilling to comment on the reasons behind the liquidation until after the creditors meeting on 22 December.

However, the reported causes of the previous business failure included the ongoing effects of the British beef crisis, rising commercial diesel fuel prices and tough competition.
