Clever weighbridge
THE TOPSIDE Trucker surfacemounted weighbridge from W and T Avery of Smethwick is claimed to bring electronic weighing accuracy to sites where the traditional pit installed weighbridge cannot be used.
Installed on a flat concrete base, the weighbridge is located laterally by built-in-angled anchor plates which eliminate the need for tie bars.
Fore and aft location is provided by buffers which are restrained by the leading steel curb of the access and exit ramps at each end.
Platforms can be from five to 22m 116ft 51n to 72ft 2in) long and are made up in modules five or six metres (16ft 5in or 191t 81n) long by three metres (9ft 10in) wide.
The load cells are located within the depth of the weighbridge eliminating the use of high side walls which could be damaged by the vehicles.
All the load cells are in stainless steel and the complete structure is built to BS 153 type HA loading which makes it suitable for any vehicle covered by Construction and Use Regulations.
Four, six or eight load cells are employed depending upon the number of modules used, with each cell being located close to the platform edge for ease of maintenance.
With four modules in use the Topside Trucker can be used to weigh up to 80 tonnes.
By combining the weighbridge with the new Avery display unit, a total information system for incoming and outgoing loads can be achieved.
