Over 60 of the operators who are associated with the well-known Manchester clearing house of Nathan Fine, Ltd., attended the first operators' dinner given by the company on Satur day last. The operators, including many owner-drivers, were drawn from places up to 40 miles distant and, true to the traditions of road transport, they refused to be stopped by a thick fog that had settled over East Lancashire.
Amongst those present were Mr. B. Winterbottom (A.R.O. East Lancashire Area secretary), Mr. R. Hindley (secretary of the company and member of A.R.O. National Council), Mr. A. Jackson (director), and Mr. R. Peters (Glasgow manager). It is intended to make the dinner an annual affair.
Overhead Equipment for Trolleybuses.
At the recent meeting of the AntiAttrition Metal Co., Ltd., Mr. Stephen P. Loosen, chairman and managing director, said that the company had been appointed sole licensee, manufacturer and distributor in the British Isles by one of the largest factories in America producing collectors and overhead fittings for trolleybuses. He is leaving for America early in the New Year to complete details, and, shortly after his return, the company expects to be in production with this equipment.
Big Licence-renewals Push.
Some 21 million motor-vehicle licences will expire at the end of this month, and it is expected that most-of them will be renewed for the quarter or year commencing January 1, 1937. Renewals may be effected as from to-. day (December 18).
300 Guests at Carmo Function.
Nearly 300 people attended the dance held in London, on Monday, by Carrno (1929), Ltd., the well-known Bedford main dealer. Mr. D. C. H. Wells, managing director, was well supported by a number of leading trade personalities.
