Dealing with the claim for preference for the corporation transport services in the free use of the streets, the chief constable says that it would appear difficult to justify the restriction of use of the streets by goods vehicles to the advantage of the tramways.

Durachrome Valve Inserts to be Made in England.

Arrangements have been made by Messrs. Tridecon, Lincoln Chambers, Portsmouth Street, London, W.C.2, to produce in this country Durachrome valve-seat inserts, which are widely used in America. Composed of siliconchromium-molybdenum alloy, which has the same co-efficient of expansion as cast iron, these inserts are pressed in and stay firm and gastight. They do not distort, and, although extremely hard, do not promote valve esinage. Whilst they cannot be machined they are readily ground.
