MR. R. T. SMITH, NY110, for 18 years, was works manager of the transport department of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., arrl previously a superintendent with the London General Omnibus Co., Ltd., has been elected to the board of the Massa Sparking Plug Co., Ltd:, of Wimbledon, LondOn, S.W.19. When the company was reorganized in July last, Mr. Smith was responsible for the layout of the new production and the revision of the plant. The company tells us that a new plug of interesting design has now passed its final test and will shortly be placed on the market under the name of Marathan.

MR, W. A. Arzcocx has been appointed a director of Westminster Motor Supplies, Ltd., 39, Victoria Street, London, S.W.1. He was previously south-eastern representative for the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Lid.

MR. R. E, DEAKIN has been appointed to the retail-sales staff of Commer-Karrier (Midland), Ltd. Mr. Deakin has had 14 years' experience with commercial vehicles, first-, with the Laffiy concern, then with Lancia, and, later, with Maudslay.

MR. C. N. GALER, formerly export manager of Rootes, Ltd., has been appointed general manager of Clement Talbot, Ltd., and Sunbeam Motors, Ltd., following the resignation of MR. A. ROBERTSON, after many years service with Clement Talbot, Ltd. MR. L. C. CUNNINGHAM, formerly European representative of Rootes, Ltd;, has been appointed export manager to fill the vacancy arising out of Mr. Galer's transfer.

MR. RAYMOND J. L. FISH, of Imperial Advertising Agency, Rhodesia House, Strand, London, W.C.2, has been awarded the M.P.O.A. Diploma as a member of the Purchasing Officers' Association, which is the only professional body of industrial buyers in this country. Mr. Fish should be well known to 'many of our readers. He was formerly chief purchasing officer for United Glass Bottle Manufacturers, Ltd., and British Glass Industries, Ltd., and for many years general buyer for Lever Bros., Ltd. During the war he was with the Ministry of Munitions, being a member of the. British ,War Mission to the U.S.. A., and a memher of the British Recruiting Mission, Philadelphia. Later he was transferred to the War Department U.S. Ordnance.
