• Small business insolvencies fell by a fifth in the first quarter of 1994 compared to the same period the previous year.
Although the number of receiverships and winding up petitions in the first quarter of this year was up slightly when compared to the last quarter of 1993, they are still 24% lower than in the first quarter of 1993.
Company liquidations fell by 3% in the first three months— the sixth consecutive quarter to show a fall. Individual bankruptcies fell by 6%.
