Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An group of about 30 protesters marched through the centre of Dublin on Monday 15 August demonstrating against the French confiscating an Irish haulier's truck.

The two-hour march, led by 16 trucks, was in protest against the impounding after Irish driver Aiden Cauldwell ignored a

weight restriction (CM 11-17 August). The march ended with the Irish Road Haulage Association handing a letter to the French Embassy asking for a speedy appeal for the vehicle's owner, Limerick-based Donal Heffernan.

If the appeal is delayed for three months, it could finish his

two-truck business, he says.

The IRHA also wants French authorities to be told to phase out such heavy-handed action: "Six months ago you could get away quite lightly for such a relatively small motoring offence. Does this mean that now a tacho offence will merit the same treatment?" it asks.
