Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Thank you for your news story about drivers' worries about the possibility of a serious accident on M25 roadworks ("Drivers fear M25 crash" CM 4-10 August).

I have just driven anticlockwise past J8 between the junction and the M23 exit it's correct to say that trucks in the inside lane (which was the hard shoulder) are being forced to swing to the right because of surface rutting.

The worst part is actually just before you take the exit sliproad to J8 where the surface is not actually joined on to the road and is very rough.

May I say I find the comment by engineers responsible for the contraflow plans incredible. Drivers will not be safe at 50mph. At 40mph I still swung to the left and right. Martyn Standbridge Ashford, Kent.

( I Because of the large number of calls and letters into the office about safety fears on M25 roadworks, we will be publishing a "Sound Off' on this issue soon:— news editor
