become a victim of truck crime. It may not get your truck or components back, but it should make life harder for the thieves attempting to use or sell your property.

A£5,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the man who stole a white lveco Ford EuroTech from Ross Roadways' depot in Basildon on Monday 25 July. The truck was found abandoned, and slightly damaged, in Crawley the next morning. However the bright yellow Russell Davies trailer and green Uniglory container, loaded with £50,000 of toys, is still missing. Only the truck belonged to Ross. But owner Barry Ross would like the trailer and container returned, mainly because otherwise it will probably increase his insurance premiums.

Early in the morning, the thief simply drove the unit, reg K607 LCL, away . Staff did not realise until the usual driver showed up to take the rig to Leicester.

An office worker saw the truck as it was abandoned the next day. She watched a scruffily dressed man in his early 40s sitting in the cab for half an hour appearing to talk into a mobile phone. The man, thin, with collar length blond hair, then abandoned the truck, leaving the window open.

Now the hunt is on for the load—toy play pens for dolls decorated with various Disney characters.

DC Steve Evans of Basildon CID says: "My guess is that it will show up somewhere in the Home Counties, The toys will probably show up at boot fairs."

Thieves who took Lawnmower & Chainsaw Services' Ford Cargo 0813 tipper knew how to disable its alarm, says owner David Cook: "They had broken the indicator lens to get into it, so they knew what they were doing." The blue tipper, reg G477 MFIS, was parked overnight near Kilmarnock abattoir when it was taken.

Cook is offering a £500 reward for any information leading to the return of the tipper, as "it's affecting us very badly; we employ a lot of people over summer and we need the pick-up to take rubbish away," he says.

He is paying over 2200 a week to hire a Transit tipper and will be fitting immobilisers to his remaining pick-up and van.
