Maintenance problems have led to the authorisation on the licence held by Ivor Gaffin, trading as ITD Deliveries, of Glasgow, being cut by five vehicles at a Glasgow disciplinary inquiry. In addition to reducing the authorisation to 23 vehicles and eight trailers, Scottish Deputy LA Allan Worthington gave Gaffin a final warning about his future maintenance standards.
Gaffin gave undertakings that over the next three months he would send his mechanics on training courses run by the Vehicle Inspectorate; he would have his vehicles inspected at intervals of four weeks; he would issue letters to his drivers outlining their daily responsibilities and to take out a contract with the Freight Transport Association for periodic audit checks.
