Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Following the recent ruling from the oil company members of the Institute of Petroleum, that their contractors should remove all fuel-fired cab heaters from road tankers before entering petroleum premises, Eberspacher UK has developed a demountable kit for its MI heater which allows it to be taken out for tanker loading operations.

The demount kit, priced at 279.50 ex-VAT, can be supplied either for use with a new heater, or as a retrofit unit for existing, fixed D1 L heaters. According to Eberspacher, retrofitting takes approximately an hour, and the work can easily be handled by an operator's own workshop.

Each kit consists of a mounting plate which is permanently fixed to the cab floor, with the fuel line, combustion air tube and exhaust tube attached to it. The DlL heater has a matching plate which is locked down onto the floor plate, creating a gas-tight seal.

Eberspacher claims the DlL demounting kit allows the heater to be removed or refitted within a couple of minutes. Once the heater has been taken out a blanking plate is used to cover the base plate, preventing draughts from entering the cab.

The demount system has already been demonstrated to the Institute of Petroleum's conveyance panel which has given it a positive reception. Two kits are available to suit different cab floors.

Those operators which have to comply with the Institute of Petroleum's Safe Loading Pass Scheme should contact their nearest Eberspacher dealer for further information.
