• Trailer rental group TIP is moving into tanker leasing by buying Greenland Transport Equipment for £1 million — its first acquisition since TIP was floated in February.
Greenland runs 72 tankers, mostly on long-term contracts. It has no depot, but managing director and founder Ian Harland, who will act as a consul tant with TIP, is based near Huddersfield.
Greenland's fleet will be increased to 100 by the end of the year. After a "settling-in period", it will probably be known as TIP Tanker Rental and expand into the other European countries in which TIP is based, says development director Chris Jepson.
