FOLLOWING an extended evaluation programme, which involved participation by many European manufacturers, the Danish Armed Forces will buy 650 all-wheel-drive vehicles based on the MAN-VT MT range.
The order, one of the largest export contracts received by MAN in recent years, is valued at around DM40 (£10.5m). It provides for delivery over a fouryear period, starting in 1985.
Choice of the MAN-VW 8.136 PAE chassis, with a payload capacity of 3,000 kg, was largely influenced by the use of parts and components drawn from the standard cv programme, which is reflected in the pricing.
The all-wheel-drive units for Denmark are powered by the six-cylinder, 5.7 litre engine developing 100 kW (134bhp) and have single rear wheels.
